Inspired by Italo Calvino’s Six Memos for the Next Millennium (1968), this poster draws on his lecture on Quickness, the idea that pacing can stretch or compress time through storytelling. Using creative typography, the word “quickness” is set in motion like a skipping stone, with three separate stones tracing its trajectory across the surface. Each ripple radiating outward is densely packed with hundreds of characters of text pulled directly from the stories within the lecture. The faster you read, the more the design comes alive which mirror Calvino’s belief that quickness is not just speed, but the rhythm which carries a story forward.
